boats.com, the online boating market place, has already seen an influx of
nominations for the first annual Marine Industry Web Awards. The awards
will be launched officially at the Southampton Boat Show 2002 but
nominations are already coming in via the boats.com website.

Nominations for the awards are welcomed from European companies displaying
excellence in consumer facing design and content through their websites.
Any marine company with a website is eligible to submit an entry. Award
winners will receive an exclusive trophy designed by world renowned yacht
designer, Tony Castro and a profile section on boats.com, the world's
most visited marine internet company.

Sunseeker were one of the first companies to enter the awards; "Sunseeker
are committed to the Internet as a crucial channel of communication
reaching both existing and potential clients. We are very pleased to be
entered into the awards and feel it is important that there is recognition
for the time and effort that is devoted to website development." commented
Robert Braithwaite MBE, Sunseeker International's Managing Director.

Fellow nominee, Spinlock, experts in rope holding technology also
commented; "We have invested a lot of money and time into making our
website work for us. We have received some fantastic feedback but it's
also good that the industry acknowledge the effort we make by having
awards like this in place. It's important for ongoing development and
progress within the web sector that a leading marine Internet company take
ownership of giving credit to companies' web operations."

Ian Atkins, Managing Director of boats.com Europe commented; "It's very
pleasing to see nominations coming in. We are encouraging all types of
marine companies to enter the awards, there is some stiff competition out
there in the industry and it will be interesting to see the variety of
entrants we receive. Websites are a very powerful tool and we strongly
believe that excellence within this sector should be recognised and
rewarded which is why we have created these annual awards."

The deadline for nominations is 2 December 2002. All successful
applicants will be notified before the London International Boat Show
2003, where the award ceremony will take place. All nominations are to be
completed online at www.boats.com.
